Howard Feinberg, DO, MACOI, FACR
Howard Feinberg is a 1984 graduate of The College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific in Pomona, CA (now Western University). After graduation he did an Osteopathic internship at Botsford General Hospital in Farmington Hills, MI followed by an internal medicine residency at Metropolitan Hospital in Philadelphia and a Rheumatology fellowship at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. After completing his medical training he founded the Ashland Arthritis Center in Ashland, KY, dedicated to patient care, research and teaching, where he practiced medicine until joining the faculty of Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2016.
In addition to medical practice Dr. Feinberg has been active in health care policy, health care education, and in medical research. He has run an active clinical research program performing both independent and pharmaceutical industry sponsored research.
Since 1989 Dr. Feinberg has been involved in medical education training students, interns and residents in Rheumatology. He has also been a regular lecturer at several medical schools and GME programs. In 1995 Dr. Feinberg helped with the development of a new Osteopathic medical school in Kentucky serving as its dean from the applicant status through the pre-accreditation process and attainment of provisional accreditation. He has won multiple teaching awards and community service awards for this work during his career.
In 1995 Dr. Feinberg completed a fellowship in health care policy through a joint Ohio University and Michigan State University program. After this he was asked to serve as faculty for the American Osteopathic Association Fellowship in Health Care policy and was given an academic appointment, for health care policy, in the department of social medicine of Ohio University. He has continued to study, teach, and be actively involved in health care policy since then. Dr. Feinberg has served on numerous federal and state commissions, done advisory work for members of both major political parties, and has had the experience of running for the U.S. House of Representatives. For his work in health care policy he has received multiple awards and honors.
