Dr. Nikolaos (Nick) A. Papanikolaou is an Associate Professor of Biochemistry in the Department of Basic Sciences at TouroCOM-Harlem, with a Ph.D. from New York Medical College and prior appointments at Columbia, the Ludwig Institute at Memorial Sloan Kettering, Johns Hopkins, and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
His work spans the fields of translational oncology, computational and systems biology, drug discovery, and network pharmacology, asking why cancers become drug-resistant and how that resistance can be reversed. His research combines molecular dynamics of drug-resistance mutations, network and biomarker analysis, metabolic-epigenetic regulation, and protein-protein interactions in cancer. He serves as Scientific Advisor to the Cure Science Institute in San Diego, providing scientific and translational guidance on emerging therapeutic strategies for glioblastoma.
