Christian Hietanen, DO, MS MEd
Dr. Hietanen received his undergraduate degree from Canisius College and then went on to medical school at New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. While in medical school, he founded the NYCOM Pediatric Club and upon graduation received the award for excellence in pediatrics. Dr. Hietanen did his pediatric residency at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY, where he was consistently recognized as one of the top residents in the program. He initially joined TouroCOM as an adjunct in 2015 and then moving to a full-time role in 2018, in addition to his role as associate professor and chair positions, he is the pediatric clerkship co-director at Garnet Health Medical Center. While at TouroCOM, he completed a master’s degree in medical education from Nova Southeastern University, where he was selected to receive the Chancellor’s Award for excellence. He is board certified and a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Hietanen takes a special interest in the care of asthma and allergies, educating new parents, as well as pediatric physical fitness. He is deeply involved with charity work, mostly centered on helping children with cancer, and community service. In his free time, he enjoys various outdoor activities and spending time with his family.
