Piotr B. Kozlowski, MD, PhD, FCAP
Dr. Kozlowski received his Doctorate of Medicine degree from the Warsaw Academy of Medicine in 1973 and his PhD in Clinical Neuropathology from the Polish Academy of Sciences in 1979. He was trained in general pathology and neuropathology in the Warsaw Academy of Medicine and later in anatomic and clinical pathology and in neuropathology at Downstate Medical Center/Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. He is board certified in anatomic pathology and neuropathology. He has been a research director at Coney Island Hospital in Brooklyn, program director at the National Institutes of Health Institute for Neurological Disorders and Stroke in Bethesda, Maryland and the Director of the Institute for Basic Research in Staten Island, New York. He joined Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine (TouroCOM) in New York in 2007, first as a founding Pre-Clinical Dean and later as a Dean of Research. Presently, Dr Kozlowski is the Professor of Pathology and Director of the Pathologist Assistant Program at TouroCOM's Harlem campus. His clinical interests include developmental neuropathology, infectious and degenerative brain diseases, brain banking and traumatic brain injury. His research interests include neurodegeneration and immune mediated brain injury, including Alzheimer's disease and AIDS and the biology of microglia.
