D.O. Ceremony Details

As we prepare for the D.O. Class of 2024 commencement ceremony, the following information is provided to facilitate the coordination of your activities.

Event Overview
Dates & Times
Harlem D.O. Commencement Ceremony - Thursday, May 16, 2024, 1:00 PM at the Apollo Theater.
Middletown D.O. Commencement Ceremony - Wednesday, May 15, 2024, 1:00 PM at the Paramount Theater.
All TouroCOM graduation venues are wheelchair accessible.
Dress Code
The dress code for graduates and attendees is semi-formal or business casual attire.
Tickets
Graduates will not need tickets. Harlem graduates are allotted ten (10) guest tickets for the Apollo Theater ceremony, and Middletown graduates are allotted six (6) tickets for the Paramount Theater ceremony. For students requiring additional tickets, please communicate with your fellow classmates who may not need all their allotted guest tickets. If additional tickets are available after distribution to the graduates, you will be notified.
Children need tickets only if they require their own seat.
Hooding
The person who hoods a graduate during commencement may be a person with a doctoral degree in the health professions (e.g., DO, MD, Pharm.D, DDS, DPM, DPT, Ph.D. in biological sciences, etc.). Please note one person per student for hooding. The person whom you designate to hood you is not exempt from needing a ticket for entry unless they are a current faculty member. Persons hooding are allowed to wear regalia of their own; however, it is NOT a requirement.
If you would like a designated person to hood you at graduation, please complete the Harlem D.O Class of 2024 Invitation and Hooding Roster.
Graduation Attire Ordering and Distribution
Harlem Campus: Harlem graduates must order their Cap, Hood and Gown by April 2nd, 2024.
SSP Sashes will be ordered by the Chapter.
Honor Cords will be distributed by the Office of Student Affairs.
Photographs
Professional photographs of the commencement will be available for download within 24 hours of the event.
Reception
The Harlem Campus graduation reception will be held at the Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine - Harlem Campus, 230 West 125th Street, New York, NY 10027 immediately following the ceremony.
Conferral of Degree & Commencement Ceremony
According to Touro University policy, you are considered to be a “Candidate for Graduation” status until the institution confirms you are eligible to receive a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree. Your diploma will be printed with the name that appears on your Touro University record.
Harlem Campus: diplomas will be distributed after the ceremony by the Office of the Registrar to those students who have fulfilled ALL of the necessary requirements.
