Dr. Mikhail Volokitin is a devoted medical professional with a background in Osteopathic Medicine and Orthopedic Surgery. Originally from the Ukraine, Dr. Volokitin received his M.D. at the Kharkov Medical School and went on to study Orthopedic Surgery at Kharkov Scientific and Research Institute of Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology. Before emigrating to the U.S., Dr. Volokitin became an Assistant Clinical professor at the Ukrainian State Postgraduate Institute for Physicians where he published 16 articles on orthopedic surgery and diseases of the spine in the scientific journals of the former USSR. Upon moving to the United States, Dr. Volokitin continued his medical training in New York where he earned his D.O. degree at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury. Upon graduating from the program, he was the recipient of the Board of Governor’s “Excellence in Osteopathic Principles and Practices” award from NYCOM. He went on to complete his internship and residency training program in OMM/Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine at St. Barnabas Hospital. Dr. Volokitin joined TouroCOM as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine in 2010 and as a full-time faculty member in 2018. Currently, Dr. Volokitin has over 150 osteopathic medical students (OMS) actively involved in clinical OMM research under his mentorship. In 2019, he earned TouroCOM’s “The Best Faculty Research Publication for 2017”. Dr. Volokitin’s career goals include increasing the visibility of OMM while educating the skills and techniques needed in conducting research projects.
