Dr. Kenneth Steier Appointed to Federation of State Medical Boards
TouroCOM Dean named fellow at national healthcare oversight organization
Dr. Kenneth Steier, Founding Dean and Professor of Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine-Middletown, New York, has been named Fellow of the national Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB), a nonprofit organization comprised of 70 medical and osteopathic licensing and disciplinary boards throughout the United States.
The mission of the FSMB is to promote excellence in medical practice and assist in overseeing licensure and regulation. It also functions as the voice of state medical and osteopathic boards in the protection of the public, as well as a resource in education, policy procedures, data management, research, and professional advocacy for its members.
Dr. Steier was appointed last year to the Office of Professional Medical Conduct for New York State by Governor Cuomo. Regarding his more recent appointment to the FSMB, he said “Having been named a Fellow makes me part of the Federation’s national effort to ensure quality medical care and patient protection throughout the United States. It is a great honor to be directly involved in this effort to improve lives on a national level, as well as here at home.”
