Power Tools!

The SAOAO (Student American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics) participated in a saw bone event with Dr. Steven Shamash, an osteopathic orthopedic surgeon who practices in Northern New Jersey. Representatives from Stryker, a manufacturer of medical and orthopedic products, were there to supply the saw bones and drilling equipment. Students learned how to fixate a fracture, and drill screws and plates into fractured bones, as well as different approaches to transverse and oblique fractures.
