Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine Harlem and Middletown campuses celebrated another year of outstanding Match Day success with a 99% match rate. Senior students from the schools matched in residencies in highly competitive specialties including anesthesiology, interventional and diagnostic radiology, vascular surgery, and emergency medicine, marking a significant milestone in their medical careers. Matching schools and hospitals included John Hopkins, Yale University, Stanford, and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

"On Match Day, we celebrate our students' remarkable achievements, supported by the commitment of our clinical partners, dedicated faculty, and devoted staff. Together, we are shaping a future where education and service inspire the next generation of healthcare leaders,” said TouroCOM Executive Dean Dr. Kenneth Steier.

TouroCOM Harlem student Sara Jaime was excited to learn she was headed to her top choice, the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Mount Sinai Morningside and Mount Sinai West, as her goal is to continue her medical training in NYC and work in an underserved area.

“A special part of being a medical student at TouroCOM is the friends I made along the way. The bond formed during our training will last a lifetime and I’m eternally grateful to have met them. Another unforgettable moment was finding out my Match Day results alongside friends I initially met at orientation four years ago. Having that full circle moment was very emotional and knowing how much pride and support we have for each other is a huge motivation to be successful,” said Jaime.

In total, 246 TouroCOM students representing both campuses matched with residencies across the country.

TouroCOM Middletown student Khadija Malik matched at NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine in emergency medicine. She’s excited to start her residency after seeing the high level of care provided to improve the well-being of residents. An unexpected part of her educational journey was meeting her now husband, who is currently a second year TouroCOM student.

“I’ll never forget meeting my husband in the TouroCOM gym back when we were just two strangers trying to take care of our health while also pursuing our dream of helping others. I'm grateful Touro gave me the opportunity to become a doctor, but just as grateful that I met my life partner through Touro,” said Mailk.

TouroCOM Harlem student Kylie Tsotsos matched at her second home, the Palisades Medical Center in general surgery, where she has completed two previous rotations.

“Growing up, I always knew I wanted to be a doctor and follow in the footsteps of my mother, who is both a pediatrician and a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. She is the best physician I know, and I chose TouroCOM to ensure I received a similar education so I could be just as great as her,” said Tsotsos.

Achieving Excellence in Healthcare

Middletown native and TouroCOM Middletown student Tyler Gopee matched at Garnet Health in family medicine, his first residency choice after volunteering in the emergency department as an undergraduate student.

“I feel a deep sense of loyalty and responsibility to give back to the Mid-Hudson Valley community where I grew up, and Garnet Health provides the perfect opportunity for me to do that," said Gopee. “I’m looking forward to continuing to build strong relationships with my patients and applying the hands-on skills I’ve learned at TouroCOM, particularly in osteopathic manipulative medicine. I can’t wait to make a meaningful impact on the community and become a dependable, compassionate physician one day."
