Getting ready for a career in surgery or emergency medicine? Then enter the Cadaver Lab, an annual event for third and fourth year students to TouroCOM students attended the NJRMEC Cadaver Lab which is intended to discuss and practice different procedures.

The NJRMEC Cadaver Lab is an annual event that is primarily put on and organized by Dr. Maurizio Miglietta, Regional Dean of TouroCOM-NY. It is for the benefit of TouroCOM’s 3rd & 4th year classes, geared toward those interested in a career field of surgery or emergency medicine. The other doctors who led this year’s stations of procedures included Dr. Steven Shikiar, MD, DME of Meadowlands Hospital and faculty member of TouroCOM-NY, Dr. Carl Valenziano, MD, Program Director of St. Joseph’s Osteopathic Surgical Residency Program, Dr. Rob Madlinger, DO, St. Joseph’s Chief of Trauma and Critical Care, and Dr. Alan Sori, MD, Trauma Surgeon of St. Joseph’s. Their intention during the lab was to discuss, teach & allow students to practice various procedures, including thoracotomy, needle decompression, chest tube placement, DPL, central line placement, tracheostopmy, IO IV placement, suturing skills, & others.
