Lissa Hewan-Lowe, DO Support Fund

Lissa Hewan-Lowe

The Lissa Hewan-Lowe, DO Support Fund awards one scholarship annually to a female TouroCOM DO student who is in good academic standing, from an underrepresented or underserved community and who is a single parent. This cash award is intended to ease the financial burden of medical school on a single mother. The award can be used for tuition, living expenses, childcare, or wherever the recipient needs it most.

The Lissa Hewan-Lowe, DO Support Fund was established in 2024 by TouroCOM Alumna Lissa Hewan-Lowe, DO. Dr. Hewan-Lowe is filled with gratitude for the opportunity she had as a black single mother to attend medical school and wants to help other single moms from underrepresented communities do the same. Upon completing residency and entering her first medical practice in Greenville, SC, Dr. Hewan-Lowe set up the Support Fund to do exactly that.
