PHR Speaker Event: Dr. Annie Sparrow
Physicians for Human Rights is hosting Dr. Annie Sparrow for a talk titled “When Child Health, Conflict and Human Rights Collide - and what to do about it” - Dr. Sparrow will discuss the field of pediatrics, public health, careers in global health, and her experience on working in challenging and war torn regions.
There will be time for questions and answers after her talk.
Dr. Sparrow is an Associate Professor and the Director of Arnold Institute of Global Health's Human Rights Program at Icahn School of Medicine. Dr. Sparrow has practiced as a pediatrician in London for 10 years, lead a public relief effort for refugees in Australia, addressed HIV and sexual violence in Sudan and Chad, and spent years in Nairobi working for the Emergency Response Team. Her current focus is the humanitarian crisis in Syria. She has been working at the Syrian border for several years to document the health crisis and train doctors in infectious disease and critical care.
