Ms. Bertollo has a masters in psychology, clinical science and is currently a PhD candidate at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She will be presenting a talk titled “Managing Patients with ASD in the Primary Care Setting”.

This talk will address the difficulties providers face while assessing and treating patients with autism spectrum disorder. This will include the basic behavioral aspects of the range of disorders that fall under the spectrum, common behavior that patients with ASD present with, and how to navigate those behaviors in an effective manner in order to deliver adequate care. Relation to Club Mission: The Family Medicine Club (SAACOFP) strives to educate the student community in the various intricacies of managing a wide range of patients in the primary care setting. Often overlooked is the population of patients with behavioral and developmental disorders, including Autism Spectrum Disorder. This talk is aimed at educating our future physicians on how to manage these patients in order to effectively deliver care.
