Journal Club Meeting
Discussion Leader: Dr. Karen Clayton, Touro's resident stats expert, will discuss how to read a paper with special attention on how to interpret its statistics. This will be a great intro to reading journal articles for anyone who is new to research.
Each article is focused on a common clinical problem. We expect attendees to read the article and then meet to discuss the background, methods, results, conclusions and implications. You do not need to have previous research experience to participate.
The goal is to gain experience reading and analyzing biomedical research before we enter rotations and residency where we will be expected to demonstrate these skills through presentations for our attendings. In addition, this is a great way to get to know your professors as well as your fellow schoolmates.
Journal club meets every other Wednesday. We will hold primers as an introductory discussion on how to approach and understand literature. This is just another way to prepare us all for our future as physicians.
