Erin Dixon

Erin Dixon was the first person in her family to attend college. “Since I’m a first-generation college student, I tried to find mentors because I didn’t know how to deal with the whole experience,” said Dixon. With her natural inclination for science, her mentors pushed her towards medicine and she double majored in cell biology and psychology at Boston University. Completing her degree at BU was especially meaningful for her since Dixon’s mother had worked at the school. She graduated in 2020 and worked for the next two years in a neuropathy lab, first as an intern and then as a research assistant. Her responsibilities included brain autopsies, making slides and staining tissues. “It was a lot of fun,” she said. She is thinking about a career as a neurologist.

Dixon has a cat named Kylo after the Star Wars villain played by Adam Driver.
