Beginning medical school at TouroCOM Middletown is coming full circle for Brooke Racanelli who was born in the hospital where TouroCOM Middletown now makes its home.

Racanelli’s father, a physician, also worked in the hospital. “I grew up there,” she laughed. “I used to go to work with him and sit in the medical center. I told myself, ‘I would be the next Dr. Racanelli.’” Racanelli attended Clemson University in South Carolina where she studied biological sciences. She graduated from the TouroCOM Middletown’s Master of Science Program in Interdisciplinary Studies in Biological and Physical Sciences. “It’s absolutely surreal to put on the white coat,” said Racanelli. “I’ve been dreaming of this my whole life.”

Honorary Swede: Racanelli speaks Swedish. During high school Racanelli’s family hosted an exchange student from Sweden. The student ended up living with them for two years and each summer, Racanelli either visits her in Sweden or she visits Racanelli in New York.
