Risit Datta

Risit Datta grew up in New Hampshire and graduated with a dual major in neurobiology and psychology from UC Berkeley in 2022. Datta dates his interest in medicine to his own diagnosis of a rare skin tumor in high school. “I was studying for my SATs and suddenly I was diagnosed,” he credited his physician with calming him down. “I told her I was interested in sciences, and she introduced me to medicine,” said Datta. He furthered that interest in college. “I fell in love with medicine,” he said. “I really liked Touro’s mission of serving the underserved, especially in Harlem. New York is a melting pot; if you can learn to be a physician here, you can go anywhere.” He is looking forward to the collaborative environment that TouroCOM fosters. While he admits he’s never had to use it yet, Datta holds a black belt in Kung Fu.
