Ezra Bekar

Ezra Bekar said he was inspired to pursue medicine by his father, a pediatrician who works in Brooklyn. “Ever since I was a child, I was always around him and I watched how he helped the community,” said Bekar. “He’s, my inspiration.” Bekar admits that he wasn’t 100 percent certain a career in medicine was in his future until he began taking biology courses as an undergraduate at LIU Brooklyn. “I wanted to make sure medicine was for me and I wasn’t just doing it because of my family,” Bekar related. “After I took some courses, I just felt it. I love to help people.” Like his father, he is considering pediatrics but is open to other specialties. He chose Touro because of the school’s mission. “I related to serving the underserved,” said Bekar. “Plus, I’m very family oriented and I wanted to stay home during medical school.”
