Chinelo Obinero was born in Nigeria and moved with her family to the United States as a young child, first to Georgia and then to Long Island.
She studied Clinical Lab Sciences in Stony Brook University then worked as a clinic lab scientist in Texas after graduating. Her father worked as a doctor in Nigeria and practices in the United States. “That was a motivating factor for me,” said Obinero who envisions practicing in Nigeria as well. “I wanted to continue what he started.”
