Odolphe Augustin knew he wanted to be a doctor ever since he was five years old. “My father wanted to be a doctor, but he couldn’t afford to become one so I promised him I would,” recalled Augustin.

He also explained that his choice to become a doctor was motivated by his relationship with his grandmother who died in 2016 at 99. “In a way, it’s an homage to her—it’s rare to live to 99, especially among the African American population—and I wanted to make sure others could enjoy the life she had.” Augustin graduated from SUNY Albany before spending a year in Americorps, a volunteer organization supported by the US government, and then pursued an MPH at the University of East Virginia. He learned about TouroCOM through the Instagram feed of fellow TouroCOM student Krystal Savice. “I fell in love with the TouroCOM mission,” said Augustin.

White Coat, White Dress: Augustin made the White Coat Ceremony even more memorable for his classmates by proposing to his longtime girlfriend KeyAna Zoe at the end of the ceremony. (She said yes.)
