D.O. Commencement Ceremony Logistics

As we prepare for the D.O. Class of 2022 commencement ceremony, the following information is provided to facilitate coordination of your activities. 

As an important first step, did you apply for graduation? To apply for graduation, please log in to the TouroOne portal (https://touroone.touro.edu/cas/login). Under the academics tab you will find instructions on how to apply for graduation.

You must also complete an exit interview with the Office of Financial Aid and an AACOM Graduating Senior Survey, with a signed confirmation form, prior to commencement. Noncompliance will result in a delay of receiving your diploma.

The Dress code for graduates and attendees is semi-formal or business casual attire.

Tickets | Guest Instructions

HARLEM CAMPUS

The Harlem D.O. Commencement Ceremony is confirmed for the Apollo Theater, NYC.  Graduates will be allotted 10 guest tickets per graduate for the commencement ceremony; tickets will be mailed to your home address on (date to be announced).

Graduates will not need tickets. For students requiring additional tickets, please communicate with your fellow classmates who may not need all their allotted guest tickets. If additional tickets are available after distribution to the graduates, you will be notified.

Children need tickets only if they require their own seat. Due to spacing and theater restrictions, strollers can be stored in the rear of the Apollo auditorium. If you require wheelchair accessibility to the Apollo, please inform (contact and date to be announced).

Covid19 Protocol. The Apollo Theater has provided clear instruction regarding adherence to Covid19 protocols.  Although a thorough review of the protocol is strongly encouraged (full document will be shared at a later date), the following is critical for accessing entry into the venue.

Proof of Vaccination: Every person entering the venue must show a completed vaccination record (dated at least 14 days before date of entry). Proof of vaccination can be displayed on your smartphone; however, a physical copy is preferred. The Apollo encourages the use of the New York State Excelsior Pass (http://epass.ny.gov), which provides a secure digital proof of vaccination. Downloading the app in advance and registering on the app prior to your visit will create a smoother entry process into the venue. If you are unable to furnish proof of vaccination with a valid picture ID at the time of your visit, entry will be denied.

Bring a Mask: All attendees, artists, staff, crews and visitors are required to wear masks when not actively eating or drinking. Attendees voluntarily assume all risks of exposure to communicable disease & viruses and hereby waives all potential claims relating to such risks. 

Health Questionnaire & Waiver:  Fill out the online waiver, located in the link below, prior to your visit. The waiver form should not be completed more than one day prior to the visit. An email receipt will be sent to you upon completion. Retain a copy of your online registration in case you are asked to present it upon arrival to the theater.

Day of visit: We ask that you wear the appropriate personal protection equipment (PPE, masks) and must be worn at all times during your visit of Apollo's Historic Theater. Additional PPE, masks, will be available on-site. Hand sanitizer stations are available on each level of the theater

Hooding

The person who robes a graduate during commencement may be a family member or faculty with a doctoral degree in the health professions (i.e., DO, MD, Pharm.D, DDS, DPM, DPT, PhD in biological sciences, etc.). Please note one person per student for hooding. The person whom you designate to hood you is not exempt from needing a ticket for entry, unless they are a current faculty member.  Persons hooding are allowed to wear regalia of their own; however, it is NOT a requirement. 

If you would like a designated person to hood you at graduation, please complete the  Harlem DO Class of 2022 Invitation & Hooding Roster by Friday, April 29th, 2022.

Cap, Gown, SSP Sashes & Honor Cords

Harlem Campus: Please order your regalia here: https://touroosteopathic.shopoakhalli.com/purchasewizard/Welcome by Friday, April 29th, 2022. Regalia will be shipped directly to the students.

SSP Sashes will be ordered by the Chapter and mailed to the students.

Honor Cords will be available for pick-up on Thursday, May 19th, 2022 at the Harlem Campus.

Reception

The Harlem campus graduation reception will be held at the Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine, 230 West 125th Street, New York, NY 10027 immediately following the ceremony.

Conferral of Degree & Commencement Ceremony

According to Touro College policy you are considered to be a “Candidate for Graduation” status until the institution confirms you are eligible to receive a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree. Your diploma will be printed with the name that appears on your Touro College record. 

Harlem Campus: diplomas will be distributed after the ceremony by the Office of the Registrar to those students who have fulfilled ALL of the necessary requirements.

 

MIDDLETOWN CAMPUS 

The Middletown D.O. Commencement Ceremony is confirmed for the Paramount Theater (Middletown, NY). Tickets will be mailed to your home address (date to be announced).

Graduates will not need tickets. For students requiring additional tickets, please communicate with your fellow classmates who may not need all their allotted guest tickets. If additional tickets are available after distribution to the graduates, you will be notified.

Children need tickets only if they require their own seat. For Middletown graduates, the Paramount Theatre is wheelchair accessible.
