D.O. Commencement Ceremony Logistics

As we prepare for the D.O. Class of 2023 commencement ceremony, the following information is provided to facilitate the coordination of your activities. 

As an important first step, did you apply for graduation? To apply for graduation, please log in to the TouroOne portal (https://touroone.touro.edu/cas/login). Under the academics tab, you will find instructions on how to apply for graduation.

You must also complete an exit interview with the Office of Financial Aid and an AACOM Graduating Senior Survey, with a signed confirmation form, prior to commencement. Non-compliance will result in a delay in receiving your diploma.

The Dress code for graduates and attendees is semi-formal or business casual attire.

Hooding

The person who robes a graduate during commencement may be a family member or faculty with a doctoral degree in the health professions (i.e., DO, MD, Pharm.D, DDS, DPM, DPT, Ph.D. in biological sciences, etc.). Please note one person per student for hooding. The person whom you designate to hood you is not exempt from needing a ticket for entry unless they are a current faculty member.  Persons hooding are allowed to wear regalia of their own; however, it is NOT a requirement.

Cap, Gown, SSP Sashes & Honor Cords

Harlem Campus: Harlem graduates must order Cap, Hood, and Gown (a link to the order form will be provided at a later date).

  • Graduates not attired in appropriate academic regalia will not be allowed to participate in the ceremony.
  • Graduates are responsible for all of their own regalia. No regalia will be made available at Commencement.

SSP Sashes will be ordered by the Chapter.

Honor Cords will be distributed by the Office of Student Affairs (date to be announced)

Reception

The Harlem Campus graduation reception will be held at the Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine, 230 West 125th Street, New York, NY 10027 immediately following the ceremony.

Conferral of Degree & Commencement Ceremony

According to Touro University policy, you are considered to be a “Candidate for Graduation” status until the institution confirms you are eligible to receive a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree. Your diploma will be printed with the name that appears on your Touro University record. 

Harlem Campus: diplomas will be distributed after the ceremony by the Office of the Registrar to those students who have fulfilled ALL of the necessary requirements.

 

MIDDLETOWN CAMPUS 

The Middletown D.O. Commencement Ceremony is confirmed for the Paramount Theater (Middletown, NY). Tickets will be mailed to your home address (date to be announced).

Graduates will not need tickets. For students requiring additional tickets, please communicate with your fellow classmates who may not need all their allotted guest tickets. If additional tickets are available after distribution to the graduates, you will be notified.

Children need tickets only if they require their own seat. For Middletown graduates, the Paramount Theatre is wheelchair accessible.
