Congratulations, you’re graduating! Here’s some info you might be looking for on the big day, and the events leading up to it.

But first, did you apply? In order to apply for graduation, please log in to the TouroOne portal. Under the academics tab you will find instructions on how to apply for graduation. Please note: You will be required to complete an exit interview with the Office of Financial Aid and an AACOM Graduating Senior Survey, with a signed confirmation form, prior to commencement. Noncompliance will result in a delay of receiving your diploma. The DEADLINE to submit your Application for Graduation is April 30, 2020.

Dates, Times & Dress Code

The Class of 2020 commencement ceremony for:

Harlem Campus, will be on Thursday, May 21, 2020 at the Apollo Theater, starting promptly at 11 AM. Attendance and participation is mandatory.
Middletown Campus, will be on Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at the Paramount Theater, starting promptly at 1 PM. Attendance and participation is mandatory.

The ceremony lasts approximately two hours. Doors open for family and guests at 10 AM (Harlem Campus) | 12 PM (Middletown Campus), seating for ticketed guests is not assigned and is on a first come first served basis.

Harlem graduates should arrive at the Apollo green room at 7:30 AM for pictures.
Middletown graduates should arrive backstage at the Paramount at 9:30 AM for group pictures. Graduates will break after group photos and return backstage at 12pm.

  • Harlem graduates will be able to store your valuables in the secured green room during the ceremony. The green room is located on the lower level of the Apollo auditorium. We do encourage graduates to either keep their personal items (e.g. handbags, phones, etc.) or give them to a family member. Neither Touro nor the Apollo Theater will be held responsible for any personal items.
  • We encourage Middletown graduates to keep their personal items (e.g. handbags, phones, etc.) or give to a family member. Neither Touro nor the Paramount Theatre will be held responsible for personal items. 

The Dress code for graduates and attendees is semi-formal or business casual attire.

Photos & Video

You cannot videotape the commencement. Due to fire safety policies we cannot permit individuals standing in the aisles trying to get a clear shot. The college arranges for a videographer(s) for commencement. Photography of the commencement will be available for download within 24 hours of the event.

Harlem senior portraits will be on: Wednesday, May 20th, 2020 from 8:30am - 2pm

Middletown senior portraits will be on: Monday, May 18th, 2020 beginning at 10:00 am

Tickets & Guests

Harlem graduates are allotted 8 guest tickets per graduate for the commencement ceremony; tickets will be mailed the week of February 24th, 2020.
Middletown graduates are allotted 6 guest tickets per graduate for the commencement ceremony; the tickets will be distributed via mail mid-late March 2020.

Graduates will not need tickets. For students requiring additional tickets, please communicate with your fellow classmates who may not need all their allotted guest tickets. If additional tickets are available after distribution to the graduates, you will be notified.

Children need tickets only if they require their own seat. For Harlem graduates, due to spacing, strollers can be stored in the rear of the Apollo auditorium. If you require wheelchair accessibility to the Apollo, please inform Ms. Paola Reynoso, paola.reynoso2@touro.edu by Thursday, May 14th and she will make the arrangements. For Middletown graduates, the Paramount Theatre is wheelchair accessible.

Cap, Gown, SSP Sashes & Honor Cords

Harlem Graduates: Please complete the Harlem DO Class of 2020 Cap & Gown/Invitations & Hooding Roster by Friday, February 7th, 2020 for cap and gown size and ticket mailing and hooding information. 

Middletown Graduates: Please complete the Class of 2020 Logistics Form by March 16th, 2020 for cap and gown size and ticket mailing information.

Student Regalia, SSP Sashes & Honor Cords will be available for pick-up on May 18th 2020 at the Middletown Campus. The last day for Harlem students to order regalia is February 7, 2020.

Conferral of Degree & Commencement Ceremony

According to Touro College policy you are considered to be a “Candidate for Graduation” status when the institution confirms you are eligible to receive a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree. 

Diplomas will be distributed by the Office of the Registrar on May 21, 2020 for Harlem graduates (Diplomas will be on the 2nd floor by last name. Last names A-L, room 238. Last names M-Z, room 239). For Middletown, diplomas will be distributed after the ceremony to those students who have fulfilled ALL of the necessary requirements to graduate. 

Your diploma will be printed with the name that appears on your Touro College record. 

Reception

The Harlem campus graduation reception will be held at the Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine, 230 West 125th Street, New York, NY 10027, in the 4th floor cafeteria and Room 345 immediately following the ceremony.

The Middletown campus graduation reception will be held at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine, 60 Prospect Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940, immediately following the ceremony.

Hooding

The person who robes a graduate during commencement may be a family member or faculty with a doctoral degree in the health professions (i.e., DO, MD, Pharm.D, DDS, DPM, DPT, PhD in biological sciences, etc.)

If you would like a designated person to hood you at graduation, please complete the Harlem DO Class of 2020 Cap & Gown/Invitations & Hooding Roster by Friday, February 7th, 2020 and the Middletown Campus Class of 2020 Logistics Form by March 16th, 2020, providing information about the selected hooder (name, degree, contact information, etc). Please note one person per student for hooding. The person whom you designate to hood you is not exempt from needing a ticket for entry, unless they are a current faculty member. 

Persons hooding are allowed to wear regalia of their own; however, it is NOT a requirement.
