A Wet Welcome

Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine's (TouroCOM) second and third year students already knew the score, but first years were sufficiently warned: Attend the Welcome Back BBQ and prepare to have fun – and get soaked. Every year our Student Government Association hosts a block party on 124th street with good eats, music and the eagerly anticipated water fight between students and faculty. It's an opportunity for first years to get to know each other and their upperclassmen. Between water balloons, water guns and the dunk tank, we all got into the spirit and splashed around in celebration of the upcoming year.

100 Percent of TouroCOM's 2013 Graduates Placed in Residency Programs

Harlem, N.Y. - The entire 2013 graduating class of the Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine (TouroCOM) in Harlem was placed in residency programs, with about half matched to primary care residencies, a key mission of the school. The graduates, who received their DO degrees in June, matched to many of the most prestigious residency programs in the country.

Treating Injured in Aftermath of Boston Explosions

It was almost 3 P.M. on Monday and Martin Levine, DO, associate dean and professor of family medicine at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine (TouroCOM), was on Boylston Street in Boston, in front of “Tent A,” the main medical tent where runners are treated after they finish the marathon. He had been in the tent helping the athletes and had left to find other runners he could assist.  Suddenly Dr. Levine heard an explosion, felt its concussive force, looked in the direction of the blast and saw a plume of white smoke about a half block away.  He yelled into the tent to make room for casualties, and proceeded toward the blast when a second one went off.

Amanda Lucashu, TouroCOM '15, won 4th place in the A. Hollis Wolf Case Competition as part of the AAO Convocation in Orlando, FL. Her case was about the use of OMT (Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment) in hypertension.
