Congratulations, you’re graduating! Here’s some info you might be looking for on the big day, and the events leading up to it.
But first, did you apply? In order to apply for graduation, please log in to the TouroOne portal. Under the academics tab you will find instructions on how to apply for graduation. If you have already submitted your application for graduation to Ms. Burrowes, you are not required to complete an additional application. Please note: You will be required to complete an exit interview with the Office of Financial Aid and an AACOM Graduating Senior Survey, with a signed confirmation form, prior to commencement. Noncompliance will result in a delay of receiving your diploma. The DEADLINE to submit your Application for Graduation is April 30th.
Dates, Times & Dress Code
The Masters Class of 2018 commencement ceremony will be:
Harlem Campus: Monday, May 7, 2018, at The Alhambra Ballroom, 6th floor, starting promptly at 9 am.
The ceremony lasts approximately 1-2 hours. Graduates will be required to arrive at the Alhambra to the Crystal Ballroom located on the 5th floor the morning of May 7th for graduation portraits at 7:30 am. Doors open at 8:00 am for family and guests on the 6th floor, Grand Ballroom; seating for ticketed guests is not assigned and is on a first come first served basis.
You will be able to store your valuables in the secured 5th floor Crystal Ballroom room during the ceremony. We do encourage graduates to keep their personal items (e.g. phones, etc.) or give to a family member. Neither Touro nor Alhambra will be held responsible for any personal items.
Middletown Campus: Master’s Commencement is on May 7th, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the Paramount Theater.
Dress code for graduates and attendees is semi-formal or business casual attire.
Tickets & Guests
You are allotted 4 guest tickets per graduate for the commencement ceremony; they will be distributed through the Office of Student Affairs from Ms. Carolyn Burrowes located in the 3rd floor Deans Suite on April 10th and April 11th. Graduates will not need tickets. For students requiring additional tickets, please communicate with your fellow classmates who may not need all four. If additional tickets are available after distribution to the graduates, you will be notified.
Children need tickets only if they require their own seat. Due to spacing, strollers can be stored in the Alhambra Ballroom reception area on the 6th floor.
Cap and Gown
Student regalia will be available to students on the day of the ceremony on May 7th at the Alhambra Crystal Ballroom on the 5th floor.
Harlem graduates, please complete the Harlem Master's Diploma, Cap & Gown Form by February 19, 2018 for cap and gown size.
Middletown graduates, please complete the Middletown Master’s Class of 2018 Cap & Gown form by March 12, 2018 for cap and gown size.
Conferral of Degree
According to Touro College policy you are considered to be a “Candidate for Graduation” status until the institution confirms you eligible to receive a Master of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies in Biological and Physical Sciences.
The graduation reception will be held at the Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine, 230 West 125th Street, New York, NY 10027, in the 4th floor cafeteria immediately following the ceremony.
The person who robes the student during the ceremony may be a family member or faculty with a doctoral degree in the health professions (i.e., DO, MD, PharmD, DDS, DPM, DPT, PhD in Biological Sciences, etc.) Please note one person per student for robing.
To specify a hooder please complete the following form with the hooder’s information.
Hooding at Graduation form will be available as of March 26, 2018 to be completed by April 30, 2018.
Persons hooding are allowed to wear regalia of their own however it is NOT a requirement.
